Room was dirty (dust and drip marks in the bathroom, accumulated dust along the baseboard) as was the restaurant with horizontal surfaces dividing seating areas dusty and dirty. Sink would not drain and wall hook in bath was pulling out of the wall. Housekeeping was allegedly going to return to room and rectify; observed dirty conditions were not corrected. Room not furnished properly, no coffee cups provided nor was there a do not disturb sign. Location and staff were very good. Not a 5 star hotel, needs refurbishment and better cleaning standards. Surprised AMEX lists this as a preferred hotel.

Perfect location, wonderful staff!!
This was not a Fairmont experience. We are very disappointed with the hotel quality of room.
First, at check-in i was sent to the wrong room. I called downstairs and they happily moved to to the room that we had booked, but it required me to go back down to reception. would have been nice if they had brought me the new card, given that it was their mistake. Next, upon entering the new room, i found that the mini fridge was sitting in the middle of the room, out of its appropriate cabinet, and unplugged. that wasn;t too big of a deal, as i did not intend to use it, but was this room under maintenance? why else would the mini fridge not be in its place. Oh well, i didn't have a lot of time to spend in the room regardless. After dinner i returned to the room and was getting ready to go to bed. i tried to turn on the television to catch up on the news for a few minutes but the television didn;t work. i checked the remote control, which was working fine, and then realized that all of the cords had been disconnected from the back of the television. Was this room under maintenance? Finally fed up, I called down to the front desk to report the issues. at least i tried to. the phone cord was so old that it was rocking inside the connection to the handset and intermittently cutting out. on the third attempt it finally worked (with me holding the connection tightly) and i was able to report my complaint to the manager. In the morning, i woke up early in order to prepare for meetings that started at 8:00. i tried to order breakfast from the app that one is required to use but found that it was too early to order breakfast. that finally changed at 6:30 am, but at that point the app refused to accept my order (i tried to place it another 5-6 times), likely because the computer system thought that i was still staying in the incorrect room that the front desk had assigned me the day before. What a disaster. so i ended up running down to the starbucks in the lobby. Aside from that, the furniture (and bed in particular) is old and worn. Definitely not up to the standard that i expect from a Fairmont.

Front desk service is so good. The F2 restaurant is so good. The spa is very good. The room has a very good view. The engineer came to fix the hot water shower is so nice. I will come back to stay next time when we visit Pittsburgh again.

Disappointing. I usually stay at Omni or Kimpton during my monthly work trips to Pittsburgh. Chose Fairmont this time on a whim because Google Maps displays it as the only five-star hotel in Pittsburgh. This would be a perfectly fine hotel if marketed as a 3-star, but lacks the attention to details of a five-star hotel, making me feel ripped off. Room had no do not disturb hang tag, although other rooms did. Room had no Keurig coffees for the in-room machine upon check-in. Asked for coffee from housekeeping who was working on the floor; she indicated housekeeping isn't provided with any coffee for rooms, it was someone else's job, and I would have to go ask at front desk. That is not a "5-star" response. Second, I should have noticed earlier, but next morning realized that there were also no paper cups or mugs in the room, so still no way to actually use the Keurig. Had given up, so decided to order pot of coffee via room service, but no one picked up the phone and call eventually transferred to a message that no one was available. Back down to front desk to ask for coffee mugs. Desk clerk stated he had no mugs or cups to give me, but he would have someone would deliver them to my room. 45 minutes later, I had the privilege of tipping when 2 coffee cups finally delivered. The down button on our floor's elevator (Floor 14) was broken. First evening there, my wife and I ordered two glasses of house Cabernet at the 2nd floor bar, and bill was $60, before tip. Most expensive glasses of wine I've ever had, and just glad we didn't order a second round and decided not to go back to bar for second night. A "five star" hotel should have a room fridge. It is not a bad hotel, just not a five star, and there are better options in Pittsburgh. I won't be back.
